Blog for a noble cause

Blog to feed a child

My little niece hates milk and certain vegetables. When she hesitates to have food and waste them, I use to tell her the story of the less privileged ones who are deprived of good food, good education. Her mother works in a government school and she tells us that most families  send their children to school for the mid day meals so that the children would not remain hungry.

Offering food to the hungry is the highest service to the mankind.

We are the largest producers of food grains and vegetables, but many children suffer from  hunger, malnutrition.

The children of poor families have to work and earn for their family. I wonder how a child can concentrate on the studies if he is too hungry. The Mid Day Meal Scheme was started to  protect children from classroom hunger, increasing school enrollment and attendance, addressing malnutrition. Many women gets job through it and earn through cooking.

Many of the parents will be working for daily wages and may have no time to pack lunch boxes for their children.

Akshaya Patra has been implementing the mid-day meal scheme across 10 states of India with a vision of  “No child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger.”. Through the mid-day meal scheme it serves free school lunch to 1.4 million school children every day in more than 10,600 Government schools.

The greatest help we can do to the innocent children we find in the street is to get them enrolled in schools and give them proper food.

While preparing the mid-day meals for millions of children, Akshaya Patra keeps intact the nutrition requirement of the meal.

Let us all be a part of this noble initiative to make India a better place for children.

I am happy to write for this initiative. For every blog entry, BlogAdda will feed an Akshaya Patra beneficiary for an entire year.

I am going to #BlogToFeedAChild with Akshaya Patra and BlogAdda.
