Gifts for my child

Five  things that I would want to gift my child for secure future

Our present society  is in desperate need of good parents who can  inspire and motivate their children to pursue their dreams and reach their potential. We can contribute to the society a lot by raising children with the following virtues. We can teach them by being a good example

I will gift my child with the following traits

1. Self Confidence and courage to face the challenges in life

2. Freedom to think and act - Give them the freedom to think and take decissions.

3. Gratitude & love for all - Gratitude sure makes the world a better place

4. Honesty - Children should be taught that truthfulness is critical in all of our interactions with other people

5. Humility - They need to assess their strengths and weaknesses, should be ready to accept their mistakes.

Connection between happiness and judgemental

Read an article on Happiness and these are some thoughts arising of it.

It is a common mistake done by us in dealing with others, we assume that they share the same view of reality as we do.We usually ignore each one is from a different background, have different opinions, have different preferences. We expect them to behave as we wish and when when it doesn't happens we are unhappy.

Our mind is programmed to be judgmental.A pretty lot of negative energy is being wasted when we are judgmental.  Since judgment comes so naturally and easily to us, breaking the habit is difficult.

1. Just focus on only the positive side of people.

2. Always have some empathy for others. This will surely reduce the urge to judge others.

3. Don't assume you and your thoughts are always right.

4. Do we actually have the right to ask "Why they are not behaving like what I expect?". I think this is the most foolish question we ask.

From my own life experiences I have felt I was always in trouble whenever I was judgmental.

Some quotes on this

Judge nothing, you will be happy.
Forgive everything, you will be happier.
Love everything, you will be happiest.

What all am I thankful for in life??

What all am I thankful for in life??

One of the main reasons that we lose our enthusiasm in life is because we become ungrateful..we let what was once a miracle become common to us. We get so accustomed to his goodness it becomes a routine

It is not length of life, but depth of life. Everybody dies, but not everybody lives.

It doesn't matter if the glass is half empty or half full. Be thankful that you have a glass - and grateful that there's something in it.

It's sad when the people who gave you the best memories, become a memory. Sometimes you'll never know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory.

These quotes made me think for a while. Our life is the biggest gift from the GOD.

So trying to list the items that I am thankful for

1. My life
2. Lovely people all around. I found instead of judging people, accept everyone and then there is love. Having people to love and support is indeed a great blessing
3. All experiences in life either good or bad
4. Hope - It always energizes my life

Integrity - the most important virtue

I believe the most important quality that I will try to instill on my child as a parent would be INTEGRITY.

To me it means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching us or being true to yourself. It is so essential to who and what you ultimately will become. We all have different goals on life, but each one of us should achieve these through straight forward paths. It is a truthfulness which is not only within you, but also in the whole world before you

There is a famous quote on this - If you have integrity, nothing else matters. And if you don’t have integrity, nothing else matters. We must all find ways to contribute to something bigger than ourselves. We must never, ever sacrifice our integrity. If we do each of these things, we will have the best opportunity to be successful personally and professionally. The story of Jean Val jean is a good example of this.

We all have a responsibility to our nation, Cultivating the virtue of integrity plays a huge role in it. Integrity is taking responsibility for our actions and not blaming others.

Life lessons

In my life I have met many people. There are several of them who inspired me for one or more of their traits.

When I look back I can see that these are the biggest lessons I learnt from them.

1. Live in the present moment. We have only this moment in our hand.

2. We can learn only by making mistakes. So don't bother of committing mistakes.

3. Be humble - No matter what all we achieve in life, always be humble.

4. Never ever give up in life. Always self motivate yourself. Get rid of all negative thoughts.

5. Live with a pure mind devoid of ego.

Life has many more lessons left to teach me, and I’m looking forward to them all.

All that matters in life

All that matters in life

Living life to the fullest, that is the most precious thing in life as to me.

Earlier I used to get frustrated when some negative thoughts come to my mind. But then I tried to change my mindset. I set myself a list of goals.

1. Improve myself - I wants to be a better ME. Take all challenges in life. I became strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind.

2. Always be true to yourself and follow your heart.

3. Stop worrying of the future and never regret in life. Whatever is to happen will surely happen. Our life is the greatest gift that GOD has given us. Feel blessed and with enormous determination and sincerity do all actions. Focus only in the present moment. Only that is in our hand.

4. Things may not always work as we wish. Leave everything to GOD, be it good or bad. Take your pain and convert it into something good. Always live with a gratitude in mind and we will be rewarded more. I feel GOD is helping us to become stronger by giving us setbacks. I believe whenever I missed something something more valuable was placed for me.

5. When there are situations which we cannot control live with a let it go attitude. Focus on the positives of life and live with the attitude of a child. I tried to believe in myself.

Lao Tzu Quotes

Loved these quotes by Lao Tzu. So sharing

"When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be."

"When you are content to be simply yourself and don't compare or compete, everybody will respect you."

Be content with what you have;
rejoice in the way things are.
When you realize there is nothing lacking,
the whole world belongs to you.

Care about what other people think and you will always be their prisoner.

He who is contented is rich

If you realize that all things change,
there is nothing you will try to hold on to.
If you are not afraid of dying,
there is nothing you cannot achieve.

He who does not trust enough, will not be trusted.

Respond intelligently even to unintelligent treatment.

Narayaneeyam

Narayaneeyam
Narayaneeyam is a Sanskrit text written by Melpathoor Narayana Bhatathiri as an offering to Guruvayoorappan. He was suffering fromextremely painful arthritis(vathom)  at about the age of twenty seven. All treatments  failed  and a he decided to turn to the mercy of the Lord. He reached Guruvayoor temple with his  younger brother.

He received an advice from the great Malayalam Poet, Thunchathu Ezhuthachan  to "start with fish".  The suggestion was that the poet should compose a work narrating the various avatharams of Lord Vishnu, Fish, Tortoise etc. It is said the deity eagerly listened to his work daily and responded with occasional comments. He even helped him once by giving a vision of Narasimhavatara, as he could not fully visualize how it was. It is a condensed version of Srimad Bhagavata Mahapuranam, which consists of 18,000 slokas written by Veda Vyasa

It consists of 100 chapters with 1036 slokas. Most of the chapters end with the prayer “please cure me of my disease”.. Immediately after he finished the Narayaneeyam he was cured of his illness. There fore it is believed that chanting the Narayannem is good for curing diseases.

People who cant read the Bhagavatham should at least try to read the Narayaneeyam.
At the end of the hundredth day, when he had completed all the one hundred dasakams, it is said that he had a glorious vision of the Lord and he was completely cured of his ailment. Bhattatiri composed Narayaneeyam when he was twenty-seven, completing it on November 27, 1587.Innumerable devotees flock to the Guruvayoor temple and offer worship to the Lord, reciting this hymn of prayer in the firm hope, belief and trust that they would be cured of their ailments.
